Shades and Blinds for Windows

Blinds and shades for a window are typically your easiest application. However, there are often numerous challenges when it comes to selecting window shades or window blinds.

Here are some details to think about when considering window shades and window blinds:

  1. What is the size of your window? Many homes throughout Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage, and the rest of the Coachella Valley have very large windows. Many products have limited size standards due to fabric restrictions, so if your window is really large our choices may be limited. Roller shades are a common choice for large windows. If your window is too small we could also have some issues!

  2. Is there hardware on your windows that would obstruct your blinds and shades? A very common style of window is one that cranks open and closed. The crank mechanism often sticks out into the area of where the window treatment would often sit. To avoid issues, we may need to either move the shade forward to avoid the obstruction. Another solution could be to stop the bottom limit of the shade to right above the hardware.

  3. How much depth does your window have? Our shades often do not require much sill depth, however, the less depth your window has the most the shade or blind may stick out. Shade products like honeycomb shades are pretty minimal while others can be a bit bulkier.

  4. Are the frames around your window wide or narrow? One of the biggest issues with installing window shades is privacy concerns due to fabric deductions on the edges. Many windows have very narrow window frames in order to maximize the glass. Certain products, especially roller shades, can have larger fabric deductions in order to accommodate the shade components. If you have narrow window frames and a window treatment product with larger gaps you may have exposed glass.

Some of the better window covering products for windows include:
